The rise of multiplex cinemas brought genuine convenience, comfortable seating, reliable air conditioning, a wide choice of screening times, that many audiences came to value considerably, even as some longtime filmgoers continued to miss the distinct, rowdier atmosphere long associated with older single-screen halls, no matter how many times the moment has been revisited.
